Riocentro convention centre and GL events to offer a unique Carioca experience at IMEX Frankfurt

Rio de Janeiro, the Olympics and World Cup city host, and first tourist destination in South America, is ready to welcome global meetings and events due world-class facilities and even easier access starting from June 2019.

The maravilhosa Carioca city and Riocentro, its main convention facility, will be featured during IMEX Frankfurt on GL events stand, D210.

Major economic and tourist hub, Rio to attract international mega-events by becoming the first World Capital of Architecture and by waiving visa requirements

One of the most dynamic cultural, commercial, financial and administrative centres of South America, the city is the headquarters for large energy, retail, pharmaceutical, telecom and media businesses.

Attracting millions of visitors, Carioca Landscapes between the mountain and the sea became the first urban cultural landscape ever inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. To its World Heritage, the Brazilian metropolis now adds yet another attraction: architecture. Following an agreement signed between UNESCO and the International Union of Architects (UIA), Rio de Janeiro will be the first World Capital of Architecture in 2020.

Throughout the year, Rio de Janeiro will be the meeting point for architects, urban planners and policy-makers, but also for artists and writers who will reflect on pressing global challenges from the perspectives of culture, cultural heritage, urban planning and architecture.

In the meantime, traveling to Brazil just became much easier as the country has officially dropped visa requirements for US citizens entering the country. This move will become effective in June 2019. Brazil’s government has also waived visa requirements for citizens of Canada, Australia and Japan.

Riocentro, the most complete event and convention center in Brazil, providing event know-how from a global management company and enhanced telecom services

The only venue that brings together show pavilions, a 4000+ pax amphitheater, a convention center, a 5-star hotel and other on-site facilities in the middle of tropical gardens, Riocentro can host any events of any sizes and shapes.

Riocentro underwent some massive transformations since the French group GL events — one of the world’s largest event & venue management companies — took over its management in 2006. Since then, the group has invested more than EUR 200 million to transform the 571,000-m² area into a modern integrated event center. Blessed with huge tropical gardens, a lake and a river flow, Riocentro further improves the visitors’ experience with an Art Pavilion at the entrance, holding some of Latin America’s largest indoor street art exhibitions, and free artistic happenings and showcases.

One of the legacies of the Rio 2016 — which directly benefits Riocentro’s clients and visitors, is the Telecommunications Station. With state-of-the-art infrastructure, it provides

-          data traffic security, quality and speedy connection, reducing the risk of downtimes;

-          full wi-fi coverage in Pavilions 2, 3, 4 and 6, allowing people attending large events to connect to the internet at the same time;

-          national and international telecommunication services.

With the Telecommunications Station, events and sports competitions can be safely broadcast live and simultaneously.

Because of its versatile structure and world-class management, Riocentro attracts the largest shows and conferences of Brazil and Latin America, such as LAAD Defense & Security — International Exhibition of Defence and Security; the International Book Fair of Rio de Janeiro, Rio Oil & Gas, the International Conference on Dentistry and the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. It has also staged some of the largest international sports events such as: Pan American Games 2007, the 2014 World Cup, the World Youth Day and the Rio 2016.
